Neaera announces reunion with new self-titled album;
reveals details for 'Neaera';
launches video for new single, "Torchbearer"

After announcing their farewell tour in 2015, Neaera has now re-formed! The band is ready to release a new self-titled album via Metal Blade Records on February 28th.

Neaera's fire was first rekindled when the band played two exclusive shows in 2018. "We have been overwhelmed by the reactions," comments singer Benjamin Hilleke. "None of us was expecting that and it was the moment when the fire was de-fact again!"

A little while later Tobias Buck started to come up with new song ideas: "I just really got up to it again and met directly with our friend and later producer Trisan Hachmeister to record a few things in his studio for testing purposes. The other guys were immediately fished-on from the first auditions. A few months later, we sat down together at one table and decided to record another album together."

For the mixing and mastering the band got Jacob Hansen (Volbeat, Heaven Shall Burn, a.o.) on board. "Hansen already did a great job with our albums 'Let The Tempest Come' and 'Armamentarium'. This is exactly the sound we wanted to have back on this album," says Buck happily.

For their upcoming self-titled record, they decided to work with professionals and studios that have contributed to the band's history: drums were recorded in the Docma Klang Studio in Osnabrück (where the demo was recorded in 2004); Jacob Hansen handled mixing and mastering duties; artwork was created by Terje Johnsen (who also handled the art for 2007's Armamentarium, 2009's Omnicide - Creation Unleashed, 2010's Forging The Eclipse). Doom Metal Trio GODTHRYMM Featuring Former Members Of My Dying Bride, Anathema, To Release Reflections Debut Via Profound Lore; New Track Streaming

Perhaps it’s the bleak and foreboding weather, the never ending cynical and soul crushing political landscape, or the rich history and romanticism of our small island, that sees the UK as a breeding ground for incredible doom metal. Step forward GODTHRYMM, featuring vocalist/guitarist Hamish Glencross (ex-My Dying Bride, Vallenfyre, Solstice), drummer Shaun Taylor-Steels (ex-My Dying Bride, Anathema), and bassist Bob Crolla who arrive with riffs as gargantuan as the pedigree behind their band members, bringing forth their debut LP Reflections, which is released on February 14 via Profound Lore.

GODTHRYMM was forged in 2017 by Glencross and sees the respected UK metal luminary return to his doom metal roots, creating the music he was known to help forge with Solstice on the legendary New Dark Age album and especially with the heralded My Dying Bride from the 2000 – 2014 time period. Further adding to the GODTHRYMM pedigree is drummer Shaun Taylor-Steels who, after some lineup refining following the band’s A Grand Reclamation debut EP, became the core of GODTHRYMM. In the months to follow, the pair recorded the colossal Reflections full-length. Upon its completion, Glencross and Taylor-Steels added bassist Bob Crolla to the fold making GODTHRYMM a true power trio of doom.

Recorded and mixed by Nathan Bailey and featuring artwork and design by Brian D’Agosta of Gostworks Art (Vallenfyre, War//Plague), with Reflections, GODTHRYMM has unleashed a mammoth slab of heavy, mournful, yet pounding traditional doom that harks back to the classic era of ‘90s UK doom/Peaceville Records. A massive step up from their debut EP, Reflections is the result of Glencross taking GODTHRYMM into darker, more melancholic, and towering realms. Through Glencross’ soaring passionate vocals complimenting his powerful riffs along with Taylor-Steels’ thunderous percussion giving the rhythm section that immense and glorious tone, Reflections is a testament to the glory days of the genre while simultaneously making its statement as a new force of modern day doom metal to behold.

Vocalist and guitarist Hamish Glencross comments: "Lyrically, “Among the Exalted” is about desire becoming all-encompassing obsession, manifesting in such a way that yearning and devotion can even become a manic and destructive force. Musically, we feel this song is very direct and represents us as musicians and who we are now, whilst also echoing our own history and also the glorious history of the celebrated U.K. doom scene. In the band's own words: "The central question behind Sculpture Of Violence really is whether there can ever be peace. Since men started settling during the neolithic revolution 10,000 years ago, the amount of years of recorded peace is disturbingly negligible. The record explores different ways and structures in which we form each other through the collective We that is society, which is us and not anybody else and which brings us up against one another and constantly focus on our differences... With the climate catastrophe approaching, the far right growing stronger everyday and the market economy reaching into even the furthest corners of our lives, the time to remain silent is simply over."

Cuts such as ‘Every Age Has Its Dragons (Like An Empire)’, ‘These Words Are Rain’ and ‘Imitation Dreams’ tackle topics of exploitative labour, the dissonance of religious discord and ill-conceived concepts of masculinity in the current climate to catastrophic effect. The ten songs on offer, whilst bleak, maintain a youthful vibrancy that truly aims to deliver change on a personal and much broader level.

Cattle Decapitation presents: "The Unerasable Past" A Short Film by Wes Benscoter

Shot during summer and fall 2019, this elaborate music video showcases the striking universe of Wes Benscoter's art in conjunction with the concepts brought into play by Cattle Decapitation in stunning 4K glory. The video is the culmination of a fruitful 18 year long relationship between the band and the world renown artist and is the first ever music video of his vastly expansive career, which includes having worked with such metal mainstays as Slayer, Kreator, Dio, Nile, Autopsy, Broken Hope, among many others. Having worked with him for so many years and being admirers of his 2009 award-winning short film, "Hold Your Fire", the band was honored to take this next step with him and seize this opportunity to give the world something special: an emotionally captivating short film by one of the top masters of timeless metal art.



Cattle Decapitation's vocalist and art director Travis Ryan had this to say about this first-of-its-kind event: "When Wes told me he would be down to do a music video for us, my jaw dropped. Having a music video that is completely married to the album artwork and color palette was something I had always wanted to do but never thought it could be a reality. As you can see from our lyrics, there's not a lot of hope floating around, so when he offered up his creative hands for a music video, we snapped to it, and along the way, it became a much more formidable force by taking the form of a short film. This worked perfectly, considering the last 12 minutes of the album not only make up two tracks that become one long emotional journey with enough monolithic peaks and valleys to rival the Andes of Argentina to the Rockies of Colorado, but the tracks themselves scream for such a treatment. The scope of the video matches the scope of the album 'Death Atlas', which is meant to be listened to from beginning to the end in its entirety as is the video. Wes Benscoter has proven that he is a master of art, incorporating various mediums into one disastrously beautiful extinction-level art film."



Wes Benscoter comments: "I've never had any real interest in doing a music video until we started planning the photos for the album layout and I thought man, this could be a great opportunity to make the kind of film I like. Grim, atmospheric, and topical. Created with a mix of old-school practical effects, some digital tricks and an insane amount of sand and fog. I used every trick in the book to try to do justice to Cattle's apocalyptic nightmare soundtrack."

Verdun streame son sabbat astral.

Alors qu’il sera disponible dans les bacs ce Vendredi 15 Novembre via Deadlight Entertainment et Throatruiner Records, Astral Sabbath se découvre dès maintenant, en intégralité sur le bandcamp du groupe. Un second album traçant la suite directe de The Eternal Drift’s Canticles (2016), aussi bien musicalement que conceptuellement.

Verdun s’est formé dans une cave brumeuse de Montpellier durant l’été 2010. De là, il était évident que le son du quatuor ne pouvait être qu’un Sludge-Hardcore froid et tourmenté. Très vite, The Cosmic Escape Of Admiral Masuka, un premier EP, marqua les prémices du concept jalonnant Verdun : les débuts et fins de Demon-Masuka. Finland’s multi-Platinum cello-rock band Apocalyptica announces a spectacular new music video for “Rise”


Integrated with the achingly beautiful new song from the band’s upcoming studio album Cell-0, due out January 10, 2020 (Silver Lining Music), “Rise" is an impressionistic painting come to life, which enacts the humanity that we all share and the power and gravity of one-on-one interactions.

Said director/writer, Lisa Mann, who has created several other music videos for Apocalyptica, “The idea was to make a video that was whimsical and captivating, that would transport the viewer into an alternate dimension that mirrors our society and today's importance of compassion and empathy. Characters in this world fall and rise again, and ultimately come together to help each other rise.”

To create the ethereal “other-worldly” look of the “Rise” video, Mann collaborated with cinematographer Jason George who incorporated infrared technology, borrowed from the analogue world and now re-emerging in today's digital sphere. “Apocalyptica's music is timeless, very emotional and cinematic, and we wanted the “Rise” video to reflect that.”

Eicca Toppinen: “Rise is a statement of hope, there is always a brighter side, no matter how dark or hopeless things seem to be. To believe in good and beauty, staying true to yourself and not giving up on that.”


In support of the release of Cell-0, Apocalyptica - cellists Eicca Toppinen, Perttu Kivilaakso and Paavo Lötjönen, and drummer Mikko Sirén - will Special Guest with Sabaton on a 15-country, 23-date European arenas tour that begins on January 17, 2020 in Zurich, Switzerland. "We will be planning the full Cell-0 tour to be at the next level in terms of how we frame our performance," added Toppinen, "because we don't know any other way.”

Rhizomes of Insanity hits as hard intellectually as it does sonically, affirming the French quartet's place on the progressive death metal map. "'Rhizomes of Insanity' is a concept album based on a thought experiment around the concept of insanity," asserts vocalist/guitarist Vince Wilquin. "It questions the origins of it, and tries to define where we set its boundaries with 'reason'. It eventually questions its place in our modern society and surmises that it has turned into an intrinsic, unavoidable but also necessary part of it and of every human being, which we're trying to repress at all costs." From start to finish, the album is an immersive, complex yet wholly accessible collection rich in melody, invention, and packed with decimating riffs - wielding ten tracks, all of which hit their mark.

Cirith Ungol launches live video for "Join The Legion" from upcoming live album/DVD, 'I'm Alive'

In October 25th, Cirith Ungol will release their new live album/DVD, I'm Alive, via Metal Blade Records. Capturing Cirith Ungol at the peak of their darkened, mystical powers before a rapturous crowd at the Up the Hammers festival in Athens, Greece, this recording showcases the magic and might of the band onstage. It's accompanied by additional performances recorded at the Hammer of Doom (2017) and Rock Hard Festivals (2018) in Germany. For this monumental release, a special in-depth documentary spanning 2 hours in length was recorded, which includes exclusive interviews about the history and legacy of the band, as told by the current and original members.

Once again, acclaimed fantasy artist Michael Whelan (whose images adorn each cover of Cirith Ungol's four studio albums) has created the perfect visual accompaniment for the musical content. Cirith Ungol was formed in Ventura, California, in the early 1970s, emerging from the hard rock / progressive rock tradition epitomized by the likes of Grand Funk Railroad, Blue Oyster Cult and Sir Lord Baltimore. Rather than passively channeling their influences, the band was driven to forge an altogether heavier, darker, more apocalyptic sound. Cirith Ungol's lyrical approach was profoundly influenced by the high fantasy literature of J.R.R. Tolkien (from whose Lord of the Rings opus they derived their name) and Michael Moorcock, fittingly enough because co-founding members drummer Robert Garven and guitarist Greg Lindstrom first met in a seventh-grade English literature class.

The band first appeared on the scene with their self-produced and self-financed debut album, Frost and Fire, via their own Liquid Flame Records imprint in April 1981. Cirith Ungol would go on to release an additional four studio albums, two compilations of their own material as well as appearing on various compilations over the years. Finally, after years of frustration took their toll, Cirith Ungol was laid to rest in May 1992.

As time went on, the clamor for Cirith Ungol's return would not be silenced. In late 2015, against all odds, long-dead embers began to smolder and glow. After intense deliberation and contemplation by the involved members, the slumbering giant awakened. The quartet of drummer Robert Garven, vocalist Tim Baker, and guitarists Greg Lindstrom and Jimmy Barraza began to knock the rust off and rediscover the magic. The band recruited Night Demon bassist Jarvis Leatherby, a seasoned musician, lifelong fan and one of the driving forces behind the decision to reanimate Cirith Ungol, to join on bass.

After years of waiting, fans will finally receive an extensive release from Cirith Ungol this fall with I'm Alive. Truly an unforgettable night in the history of this legendary band, this cult quintet rocks harder than ever, more than four decades after their inception. Long may they reign!

Rock band Saint Asonia have shared their brand new video for "The Hunted," featuring Godsmack's Sully Erna. The track continues to be one of the fastest growing songs at rock radio over the past few weeks and is poised to break into the Top 20.

"I'm super excited to share 'The Hunted' video with our fans," says singer Adam Gontier. "We worked with PR Brown, who did our 'Better Place' video from the first record, again. He's also done all of Saint Asonia's record artwork and is absolutely brilliant. He's an amazing photographer and his vision always seems to line up perfectly with ours. 'The Hunted' video sort of has a Little Red Riding Hood vibe to it. But it's a little more 'creepy,' if you will. It's kind of a straightforward song, and I really wanted the video to be simple and visually intriguing. I think we've achieved that."

"The thing about Flawed Design is that it took longer than we expected to make," Gontier explains. "But in the end, because of that, it turned out to be a really good piece of work. There were so many things happening in my personal life when we started the process in early 2017. I basically took a step back, took care of the things I needed to, and I went through a lot of extremely difficult situations. I found myself in a bad place. But, when I finally came out on the other side, I focused, we focused, and we made Flawed Design. It's a very real, vulnerable look into the last few years of my life — the good, the bad, and the ugly."

He finishes, "I feel confident in saying Flawed Design is, without a doubt, the best body of work/music I’ve ever created. I hope it has the same impact on fans, as it has on me."

Après presque 20 ans de carrière, le groupe ETHS a mis fin a ses activités en 2017.

On October 25th, Cirith Ungol will release their new live album/DVD, I'm Alive, via Metal Blade Records. Capturing Cirith Ungol at the peak of their darkened, mystical powers before a rapturous crowd at the Up the Hammers festival in Athens, Greece, this recording showcases the magic and might of the band onstage. It's accompanied by additional performances recorded at the Hammer of Doom (2017) and Rock Hard Festivals (2018) in Germany. For this monumental release, a special in-depth documentary spanning 2 hours in length was recorded, which includes exclusive interviews about the history and legacy of the band, as told by the current and original members.

Once again, acclaimed fantasy artist Michael Whelan (whose images adorn each cover of Cirith Ungol's four studio albums) has created the perfect visual accompaniment for the musical content. It's only fitting as Whelan's breathtaking artwork is inextricably intertwined with the music and mythology of Cirith Ungol in the hearts and imaginations of metalheads worldwide.

Cirith Ungol was formed in Ventura, California, in the early 1970s, emerging from the hard rock / progressive rock tradition epitomized by the likes of Grand Funk Railroad, Blue Oyster Cult and Sir Lord Baltimore. Rather than passively channeling their influences, the band was driven to forge an altogether heavier, darker, more apocalyptic sound. Cirith Ungol's lyrical approach was profoundly influenced by the high fantasy literature of J.R.R. Tolkien (from whose Lord of the Rings opus they derived their name) and Michael Moorcock, fittingly enough because co-founding members drummer Robert Garven and guitarist Greg Lindstrom first met in a seventh-grade English literature class.

The band first appeared on the scene with their self-produced and self-financed debut album, Frost and Fire, via their own Liquid Flame Records imprint in April 1981. Cirith Ungol would go on to release an additional four studio albums, two compilations of their own material as well as appearing on various compilations over the years. Finally, after years of frustration took their toll, Cirith Ungol was laid to rest in May 1992.

As time went on, the clamor for Cirith Ungol's return would not be silenced. In late 2015, against all odds, long-dead embers began to smolder and glow. After intense deliberation and contemplation by the involved members, the slumbering giant awakened. The quartet of drummer Robert Garven, vocalist Tim Baker, and guitarists Greg Lindstrom and Jimmy Barraza began to knock the rust off and rediscover the magic. The band recruited Night Demon bassist Jarvis Leatherby, a seasoned musician, lifelong fan and one of the driving forces behind the decision to reanimate Cirith Ungol, to join on bass.

After years of waiting, fans will finally receive an extensive release from Cirith Ungol this fall with I'm Alive. Truly an unforgettable night in the history of this legendary band, this cult quintet rocks harder than ever, more than four decades after their inception. Long may they reign!

Cattle Decapitation have never shied away from confronting the awfulness wrought upon the natural world by the human race, and Death Atlas is their bleakest offering to date. The cover art says it all: a stooped, skeletal Grim Reaper carrying the burnt-out husk of our planet on his back. "The core concept of this record is humanity's insignificance despite what we've convinced ourselves," explains vocalist Travis Ryan. "That's kind of why this album cover takes place in space, to remind you that 'the universe always finds a way to purge'. In the grand scheme of things, our species is merely a fleeting thought." This imagery is backed up with a ferocious soundtrack, which includes elements of death metal, grindcore, black metal, sludge, doom, drone - with Ryan's vocals broader and more fully realized than ever before.



Produced once again by Dave Otero (http://www.flatlineaudio.com), Death Atlas also features a number of guests: Laure Le Prunenec (Igorrr, Ricinn), Riccardo Conforti (Void of Silence), Dis Pater (Midnight Odyssey), Jon Fishman (Phish) - plus, brass instrumentalists from Ottone Pesante. The end result of these experimentations and collaborations is one of the most devastating records of 2019, and it demands an emotional response.



As the band prepares to tour and hopefully reach places they have yet play, what Ryan wants listeners to take away from Death Atlas is clear: "I want people to be shocked into thinking more about their futures, their loved ones, the pain they're potentially subjecting their future generations to. Everyone just seems to live in the now with no care for tomorrow, and that's incorrect thinking, as far as today goes. Don't make tomorrow a cancelled check."

SAINT ASONIA invite ses fans à les rejoindre dans le clip de " The Hunted " via Snapchat


Rock band Saint Asonia are previewing their music video for their hit single "The Hunted" through a new Snapchat Lens that puts the viewer right into the video's key scene.



In the :30 second excerpt of their forthcoming full length video for "The Hunted," viewers can actually insert themselves into a clip from the upcoming video through a specially-designed Lens, and can then share their cameo role with their friends on Snapchat.


While the band unveiled the new Lens via their social media accounts, the Lens will also be featured in Lens Explorer, Snapchat's hub to discover Lenses made by the community. To open Lens Explorer, just tap the smiley icon that appears when the Lens Carousel is active.



The Lens was made through Lens Studio, Snap's free desktop app that makes it possible for anyone to create their own Lenses for Snapchat. Lens Studio just unveiled six new templates, including a Face In Video template, which places the viewer's face into a video. Saint Asonia is the very first band to utilize this exciting new feature.

Since being released two weeks ago, "The Hunted," which features a guest vocal from Godsmack's Sully Erna, has quickly gained radio support across the rock format. The song is the first single from Saint Asonia's forthcoming album, "Flawed Design," due out this fall on Spinefarm Records.

Saint Asonia – named Loudwire's Best New Artist of 2015 –sparked into life four years ago when former Three Days Grace frontman Adam Gontier and Staind guitarist/founding member Mike Mushok decided to turn their joint ambition to make music that is "raw, real, and straight from our hearts" into a new band and a fully-fledged studio outing.



The result was their acclaimed self-titled debut, released in 2015, which charted Top 10 in Canada and entered the Billboard U.S. Rock Albums chart at #2. The album was driven by the Top 10 radio tracks "Better Place" and "Let Me Live My Life," as well as the high-concept video to the featured track "Fairy Tale."


Collectively responsible for 28 Top 10 U.S. Rock Radio hits, including 17 #1s — the demand was immediately there for Saint Asonia to take to the road. Following an inaugural main stage appearance at Rock on the Range in 2015, the band set off on U.S. amphitheater tours with Breaking Benjamin and Disturbed and will follow the release of “Flawed Design” with an extensive tour schedule which will be announced shortly.

Alors qu’ils viennent juste de sortir "40", leur premier album studio après 26 ans d’absence, et qu’ils sont en pleine tournée européenne (dont 4 festivals en France) les Stray Cats, le légendaire trio rockabilly, annoncent l’arrivée de "Runaway Boys", un coffret vinyle en édition deluxe limitée qui sortira, via BMG, le 27 septembre prochain.

Formé en 1979, à Massapequa, Long Island (New York), par trois musiciens - le guitariste/chanteur Brian Setzer, le contrebassiste Lee Rocker et le batteur Slim Jim Phantom - partageant la même passion pour le Rockabilly, The Stray Cats sont réputés pour avoir remis au goût du jour ce son si distinctif du pur Rock and Roll. Aux débuts des années 80, ils rencontrent un vif succès des deux côtés de l’Atlantique grâce à un style forcément estampillé années 50 mais également réactualisé (pompadour exagérés et tatouages haut en couleur) qui met en valeur un réel talent musical digne des meilleurs artistes rockabilly de la grande époque. Ils sont tout simplement à l’origine de la renaissance du rockabilly, en conjuguant à la perfection le son du fameux Sun Studio typique des années 1950 avec les éléments punk plus modernes.

Après quelques tournées entre New York et Philadelphie, durant l’été 80, le groupe se laisse persuader par un ami proche de sauter dans un avion pour Londres, où le mouvement rockabilly commence à renaître de ses cendres. Leurs tubes et vidéos phares sont "Runaway Boys", "Rock This Town" (que le Panthéon du rock and roll a répertorié comme l'une des chansons qui ont façonné le rock and roll), "Stray Cat Strut", " (She’s) Sexy + 17", et " I Won’t Stay in Your Way ".


Célébrant cette année leur 40ème anniversaire, les Stray Cats viennent de démarrer une tournée mondiale (la première depuis plus de dix ans), pour promouvoir « 40 », sorti récemment sur Surfdog Records et désormais suivi par "Runaway Boys", ce luxueux coffret vinyle collector.


"Runaway Boys" présente les trois premiers albums du groupe : "Stray Cats" (1981), "Gonna Ball" (1981) et "Rant’N’Rave" (1982). There can be few better ways to mark the 20th anniversary of your band than releasing the finest record of your career. In RAM's instance, this comes in the form of The Throne Within, the Swedish quintet upping their game across the board to deliver a record with deep roots in classic heavy metal but wielding an energy and freshness to it that places it very much in the now. "It is unmistakable RAM, there are fast songs, heavy songs, mid-tempo and slower tempos as well. There's melody and there's grit. The arrangements are recognizable but some may be unorthodox" states founding guitarist Harry Granroth.

Killswitch Engage first shook the structure of heavy music upon climbing out of snowy industrialized Western Massachusetts in 1999. Building on twenty years of creating some of the most epic, emotive and inventive heavy music unleashed on the world, there is no denying that Cult Of Luna's A Dawn To Fear is a monster of a record. An album comprised of eight tracks running seventy-nine minutes, it embodies everything the band's faithful have come to expect from them while covering new ground. "Going into the process, we knew the album we wanted to make, an antithesis of what we've done before," says vocalist/guitarist and lead songwriter Johannes Persson. "For pretty much every album there's been a very concrete theme. We've known from the start the kind of story we wanted to tell, and I didn't want that to be the case. I've seen a lot of subtle changes and patterns in my own behavior and my own thinking the last couple of years, and I wanted this to be a completely spontaneous process. I just wanted to see what came out of me, and 'A Dawn To Fear' is the result of that."



Admitting he is perhaps still too close to the record to objectively describe the sound of A Dawn To Fear, Persson believes that it has a more organic feel to it, largely achieved through the use of organs and other acoustic instruments in place of electronic keyboards, and that it is perhaps a more melancholic collection. It is also arguably heavier than their last full-length, 2013's Vertikal and their 2016 collaboration with Julie Christmas, Mariner, both in terms of the sheer density of the music and its tone. When it came to tracking the album, the band opted to work at Ocean Sound Recordings in Norway, which, as the name suggests, is located right by the coast, far from the nearest town. For eleven days the band lived at the studio, and enjoyed the process of constructing the record. With the finished product running to the length of a double CD, there was some discussion of cutting a track, but this did not get far. "We sat down and looked at that song list and we couldn't. It would make it easier for us and everyone involved to cut one song, making it no problem when it comes to LPs and CDs, but we just couldn't see the album any other way. These songs are the songs that make sense. If we cut this song or that song, it would screw up the whole dynamic of the record."

Mais, comme nous le rappelle la chanteuse, sa vie a toujours suivi des cycles, “ tout va bien puis tout va mal, bien puis mal” et ce sont ces extrêmes qui ont généré plusieurs de ses meilleures chansons. “Sur cet album j’assume ma vulnérabilité et tout ce qui concerne ma vie, l’amour, les addictions, ma bipolarité, mon père, ma sœur ..."

War In My Mind met un terme à un sentiment de travail inachevé pour Beth. En 2003, le producteur poids lourd Rob Cavallo (Green Day, My Chemical Romance, Dave Matthews Band, Goo Goo Dolls) était prévu pour mixer l’album de la chanteuse Leave The Light On. "Mais le producteur avec qui je collaborais à l’époque” se souvient Beth "est passé outre mon accord, a confié le mixage à Rob et a réussi." 15 ans plus tard, lors d’un dîner où Cavallo était présent, son destin s’est joué. L’hôte a encouragé Beth à jouer l’une de ses dernières chansons. “Après les avoir interprétées”, se rappelle-t-elle, “Rob est venu et m’a dit “Tu as beaucoup progressé en tant qu’auteur et je veux enregistrer ces chansons avec toi '.
Et il s’est avéré être l’une des personnes les plus cool avec qui j’ai pu travailler."
La pochette représentant Beth penchée sur un piano avec au dessus d’elle sa tempête personnelle est une illustration parfaite de la nouvelle matière qui frappe telle une force de la nature. Il commence par la chanson anti-amour Bad Woman Blues. "Il s’agit d’une femme qui n ‘a absolument aucun intérêt à être bonne car elle est bien consciente qu’elle ne l’est pas. Mais, au lieu de se détester pour cela, elle l’assume parfaitement auprès de l’homme. Idem pour “chéri, je suis une connasse et une sacrée sorcière, mais avec moi tu vas t’amuser.

Une imposante ballade au piano qui évolue en un hymne épique, le titre phare explore les sombres années d’addiction pendant lesquelles Beth n’en pouvait plus, Let It Grow est si émouvante d’honnêteté que le simple fait d’en parler lui met les larmes aux yeux. "Cette chanson parle du fait d’avoir tellement d’espoir quand on est désespéré.” Le groove hédoniste de Try A Little Harder évoque les dés qui roulent sur le strip de Las Vegas. "Il s’agit de moi me mettant dans la peau de mon père dans les années 70 quand il était un joueur invétéré" explique-t-elle. "Je mets en scène sa manie d’être un joueur de baccara et la mienne pour la musique. Mon père et moi nous ressemblons tellement, c’est ridicule. Cette chanson me rend confiante, heureuse et plus résiliente quant à ma bipolarité."

Après avoir suivi la carrière fascinante de Beth Hart pendant un quart de siècle, nous avons appris à ne rien exclure tant que c’est réel. Aujourd’hui, avec War In My Mind, cet auteur a composé une œuvre qui met son âme à nu, nous ouvre son cœur sans concession. Elle conclue "Vous savez, quand on a fait la séance photo pour ce nouvel album, c’est la première fois que j’ai demandé à ne pas être maquillée ni coiffée. C’est la première fois que j’ai pu écouter ma propre voix sans en être malade. J’étais heureuse d’avoir 47 ans et ne pas avoir à me sentir jeune et compétitive et toutes ces choses que je pensais être supposée être. Sur ce disque je me suis dit, laisse faire comme tu le sens. Je crois que j’ai fait un bout de chemin, plus près de la vérité. Je ne sais peut-être pas ce qu’est la vérité...mais ça me convient.»

Twenty-three years after releasing their last full-length, Sacred Reich are returning in force with the towering Awakening. The new album showcases everything a fan would expect and hope for from the Phoenix, Arizona crew, it is a timeless collection comprised of blistering thrash, crushing grooves, killer solos and socially conscious lyrics that demonstrate a true understanding of everything that matters most in the world today. The return of Dave McClain, who manned the drum throne from 1991 to 1997, and the addition of 22 year old Joey Radziwill playing guitar, alongside original members guitarist Wiley Arnett and vocalist/bassist Phil Rind are integral facets of the record. Speaking on this current line-up of Sacred Reich, Phil Rind says: "Dave is such a killer drummer and person. He works every day to become a better drummer, and I mean every day. His work ethic is inspiring. As much as he has accomplished, he is still open to what comes. Joey brings a higher level of musicianship and tightness to our band, and he brings a freshness to us. He gives us an opportunity for us to see things from a different perspective, and all of us were blown away by what he can do with a guitar and how effortlessly he does it."



To track the album, the band headed into Platinum Underground in Mesa, AZ, and employed producer Arthur Rizk (Power Trip, Cavalera Conspiracy) and engineer John Aquilino. The album was mastered by Maor Appelbaum at Maor Appelbaum Mastering, CA. Speaking on his band's long awaited new album, Rind adds: "Going into it, we had a loose idea as far as knowing that we wanted some fast, heavy songs to honor the old school fans that have supported us and gotten us to this point. We wanted everything to happen naturally. We didn't want to force anything and we are super stoked with every song. It is easily the best thing we have ever done. Regardless of what happens with the record, the experience of making it was enough to satisfy us. Obviously we hope people like it, but even if it tanked, it could not change the way we feel about it. We know what we did."

Currently working on the follow-up to the critically acclaimed The Direction of Last Things (2015), Intronaut plans to release their new album - and Metal Blade Records debut - in 2020. Sacha Dunable (guitars, vocals) has checked in from the studio with the following comment, regarding this upcoming record and signing: "Intronaut are very excited to work with the legendary Metal Blade Records for our upcoming album and beyond. We've spent almost four years writing this thing, and it's by far the most intense record we've ever made. It's only fitting that it will come out on the most legit metal label around."

Purveyors of the progressive, Intronaut has made a name for themselves through musical, lyrical, and artistic adventures, journeying into a multitude of styles, parlaying the best of their influences into a force that's immediately recognizable as Intronaut.

Formed in 2004, Intronaut - a term that means "inner traveler" - spent the next decade writing, recording, and releasing category-destroying long-players, the first of which was 2006's Void (Goodfellow). Soon after, the Los Angeles-based group caught the eyes and ears of Century Media Records, where they debuted with the incredible Prehistoricisms (2008). In the years that followed, Intronaut would tour with Tool, Mastodon, Meshuggah, Between The Buried And Me, and Animals as Leaders, while also issuing widely lauded full-lengths: Valley of Smoke (2010), Habitual Levitations (Instilling Words With Tones) (2013), The Direction of Last Things (2015). Fans can expect another genre-defying record from the group in 2020 via Metal Blade Records.

Les acteurs de l'ombre sont fiers d'annoncer la signature d'un nouveau groupe français : ASPHODELE.

Asphodèle est un projet introspectif porté par les compositions de Spellbound, dont les vocaux sincères et sans concession au sein d'Aorlhac marquent les esprits depuis plus de dix ans déjà. La voix sibylline et hantée d’Audrey S., connue notamment pour ses participations passées dans feu Amesoeurs, dans K.P.N ainsi que son implication actuelle dans Malenuit, confère aux titres une aura toute singulière.
Leur rencontre a fait émerger le besoin d'exprimer leurs difficultés intérieures au sein d'un projet commun basé sur des expériences personnelles réciproques : une expression vitale et une résurgence prenant forme au travers d'une musique sincère, enveloppée d'une épaisse brume de dysthymie et d'un regard désabusé sur la vie.

Le duo a rapidement fait appel à des musiciens expérimentés et le line-up se voit renforcé par la présence en studio de Stefan (ex-Anorexia Nervosa, actuellement dans Au champ des morts) à la guitare et Sébastien (Au champ des morts) à la batterie. Christian Larsson (ex-Apati et Shining, actuellement dans Gloson) complète le line-up à la basse tandis que Graf (Psychonaut 4) et Sylvian Bégot (Monolithe) gratifient le projet de leur présence en tant qu’invité spécial sur un titre.

L'album d'ASPHODELE sortira en format CD digipack et LP le 1er novembre 2019.

Un album à la croisée du rock, du black, du post-punk, avec une touche new wave. Pour les fans de musique mélancolique, voire dépressive, à la FORBIDDEN SITE, DEPECHE MODE et LIFELOVER.

Lightbulb Crew annonce sa collaboration avec Pierre le Pape et d'autres artistes pour le jeu vidéo Othercide qui sortira l'année prochaine.

Lightbulb Crew est un studio indépendant basé en France et en Suède. Réunissant des développeurs passionnés et talentueux, le studio a à cœur de créer de nouvelles expériences vidéoludiques pour les joueurs les plus exigeants adeptes de jeux de stratégie.

L'équipe de Lightbulb Crew sera présente au Hellfest le vendredi 21 juin ainsi que Pierre Le Pape.


Othercide est un jeu vidéo de stratégie au tour par tour sombre et sans pitié à la direction artistique unique pour le genre. Dans un univers en noir et blanc au-delà de notre réalité, le joueur se retrouve à la tête d’une escouade de guerrières prêtent à tous les sacrifices pour survivre face à des hordes de créatures issues de ses pires cauchemars.

Redoutable jeu d’échec, la tactique pure cède la place à la réflexion pour mettre à mal les capacités mentales et intellectuelles du joueur !

"En tant que joueur et compositeur, je suis très heureux et reconnaissant de composer ma toute première bande originale de jeu vidéo sur un projet aussi ambitieux et artistique. Ces derniers mois, j'ai passé beaucoup de temps dans l'univers obscur de Othercide et ce fut une expérience fantastique de le retranscrire en mots et en musique.

J'ai eu l'occasion de travailler avec des personnes et des amis formidables et je suis vraiment fier de ce que nous avons accompli. Tanith launches new single, "Eleven Years"

On May 24th, NYC's Tanith will release their debut full-length, In Another Time, via Metal Blade Records. Taking their name from a character in the classic Hammer Horror The Devil Rides Out, Tanith play vintage hard rock that harks back to the glory days of Blue Oyster Cult, Thin Lizzy and Uriah Heep. However, while such influences resonate through their music, they are never derivative, having a strong musical identity and forging their own sound.

The origin of Tanith lies in Cindy Maynard (Bass, Vocals) and Satan's Russ Tippins (Guitars, Vocals) playing covers in clubs and pubs in Tippins' native UK, but it soon became obvious that they wanted to create content of their own, and form a full band. Deciding to locate the act in New York, they recruited close friend Charles Newton on guitar and drummer Keith Robinson to realize this. "Let me just say upfront that this is no solo project, but a four-piece band where each member has an equal say," Tippins says. "If I even wanted to call the shots these guys wouldn't let me! Collectively, we have a dynamic that really works. Not only are we friends who hang out as a matter of course, but musically the pieces all fit to make a picture. It's a rare thing and I appreciate it more than most, having played in so many bands previously." The manner in which the four musicians combine is indeed a special thing, and every contribution is essential. "Russ brings most of the substance, spirit and lyrics to the band," Maynard enthuses. "He's a visionary, so easy to work with creatively, and just loves getting together and playing with his friends. Charlie is a natural complement to Russ on the guitar, I would say technically and creatively, and he has a way of explaining things with a clarity that makes technically tricky things somehow simpler to execute. Then we have Keith, who is a great, flexible and tasteful drummer, and his grounded nature and playing really anchors everything we do." Tippins likewise enthuses about Maynard's contributions, heralding her as "an inspirational person who leads by example in every way. There is no one else I'd rather have beside me on stage, while off stage she is an orchestrator with the vision to keep things on point."

A home demo of the song "Citadel" - made by just Maynard and Tippins - marked the official birth of the band, and the subsequent 7" recorded with the whole unit demonstrated what happens when the four of them work together. Selling out of physical copies of the two-track 7" in ten weeks, the songs continue to sell on Bandcamp and have been purchased by fans in Thailand, Russia, Greece, Japan, Australia and numerous other territories - the band feeding on the enthusiasm garnered from around the world. Now, they're following it up with their debut full-length, In Another Time, which Maynard aptly describes as, "great riffs, lots of melody, interwoven parts, and twin fucking guitars! I think the record is refreshingly different from so many other records being put out now, and the analog warmth of the recording definitely adds to the feel and experience." Lyrically, they eschew the angry, cocksure, nihilistic, or occult-based subjects common to a vast amount of contemporary rock and metal bands, and instead come from a more positive place - Tippins asserting, "With Tanith we wanted to offer more of a message of hope, and an escape to the realms of fantasy. Broadly speaking, it's optimism over pessimism." All the tracking of the record was handled at Excello Studios in Brooklyn, NY, and owner Hugh Pool engineered and mixed the entire collection. "The analog equipment we tracked with affected not only the mood but also the creative process. Real analog equipment from the 60s and 70s has a distinct sound, feel and even smell," says Newton - and this only adds to the organic, old school feel of the record.

Twenty-five years…. By the time you see and hear the performances from these two shows, Gov’t Mule will have celebrated 25 years as a band -- something we never could have imagined. It’s no easy task keeping a band together for 25 years. You don’t get to do that without having built, nurtured, depended on, tested, damaged, and rebuilt important relationships. In fact, with any band that’s stayed around that long, it’s all about relationships. When we made the decision to document where the band is currently (musically speaking), it immediately occurred to us that this would be, among other things, a celebration of a lot of those relationships -- starting with the one between the four of us.

The title, Bring On The Music, is obviously taken from the song of the same name that deals not only with loss and the passing of time, but also with our relationship with our audience as well. The same applies to “Traveling Tune,” which opens and closes the main program of the film. Without our audience, there would be no chance or reason for us to be around 25 years later.

It was also obvious that we wanted to film and record at the Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, New York, which is one of our favorite venues. Since its re-opening in 2012, myself and Gov’t Mule (together and separately) have played there many times and have had many magical shows there. To quote Jerry Garcia, “There’s only two theaters, man…. The Fillmore and the Capitol Theatre.”

Bringing in Danny Clinch to direct the film was a somewhat obvious choice as well. Having watched each other’s careers grow in ways that included twists and turns neither of us could have predicted, our relationship pre-dates the formation of Gov’t Mule. On his path toward becoming the “go to” photographer and film director for so many artists in the world of music, Danny would shoot the photos for many Gov’t Mule records throughout our career, going back to our debut album, for which he shot all the photos including the front and back covers. The band shot we chose for the back cover was the “Polaroid” of the first picture he ever took of the original trio, at Bearsville Studios in Woodstock. It was literally the very first photo taken in what turned out to be an 8-hour shoot. As I imagine most of you reading this know, the front cover of Gov’t Mule features the image of a mule draped in an American flag surrounded by trees. Most people I’ve talked with about it assume it was some sort of collage or illustration. No. Danny Clinch rented a mule and dragged it into Central Park in the heart of New York City to get that iconic shot. When we showed all the photos to Gregg Allman, he pointed at that one and said, “There’s your cover.”

Relationships…. It’s also important to point out the people that helped keep Gov’t Mule alive; people like Chuck Leavell, Oteil Burbridge, Dave Schools, Rob Barraco, Mike Gordon, Les Claypool, Jason Newsted, George Porter Jr., Greg Rzab, Audley Freed, Karl Denson and Andy Hess -- all who came on the road with us at a time when we weren’t sure if we could continue. Andy, of course, went on to join the band from 2003 to 2008, bringing his own personality to the music.

Music…. The thing that’s helped us, individually and collectively, get through the inevitable hard times. The thing that’s driven every decision we’ve made as a band since our inception in 1994. The thing that’s ever-elusive but worth chasing for 25 years (and beyond), and that we’re all lucky to have as such a big part of our lives. The thing that’s connected all of us, everyone aforementioned, including the audience, and continues to grow like -- and along with -- the “circle" that’s been here since long before any of us and will be here long after we’re gone that will hopefully inspire and influence musicians, bands, and artists for the future the way we were all inspired and influenced by what came before.

So, bring it on! Everything’s gonna be all right.

"J’ai rencontré Albéric Jouzeau en avril 2015 lors d’un concert au Hard Rock Café. Après plusieurs collaborations, il m’appelle début 2016 pour me parler d’une série qu’il aimerait réaliser : partir vers l’inconnu pour créer une chanson en pleine nature.
Albéric a déjà choisi la destination : l’ISLANDE. Il est primordial de partir à l’aventure sur une terre contrastée. Se perdre pour mieux se trouver et voir quelle musique peut ressortir au gré du hasard et des découvertes.
Je suis évidemment emballé par l’originalité du projet. Je rêve de visiter l’Islande depuis bien longtemps. Certains de ses artistes comme Sigur Ros ou Bjork ont laissé une forte odeur sulfurique sur mon enveloppe créative.
Après plusieurs mois de préparation, nous nous lançons, avec Albéric/Réalisateur et Benjamin/Pilote de drone, sur les routes islandaises à bord d’un camping-car."

Après avoir révélé plusieurs info (pochette, date de sortie, liste des titres, formats...) sur "The Great War", leur nouvel album, les suédois de Sabaton lancent aujourd'hui un premier extrait de ce 9ème album studio.

Plus qu'un nouveau single, ce titre, intitulé "Fields of Verdun" est un véritable hommage aux combattants de la plus longue des batailles livrées pendant la 1ère Guerre Mondiale (dix mois, 700 000 victimes...)

Diamond Head – the Stourbridge, England born New Wave of British Heavy Metal pioneers – return to the world stage with a new album, set for release May 24th via Silver Lining Music. The Coffin Train is at once fresh and exuberant while also being a stone-cold classic slice of old school heavy metal excellence. Is it packed with the sort of riff-fueled power that founding member (and riff LORD) Brian Tatler led a genre and influenced the odd band or two with? It’s electric for sure… and then some.

With a mean driving riff that resembles a thunderous machine gun, the album’s second single, ‘Death by Design’, is a powerful track. It is a song that takes the listener along for one hell of a ride which promises to put the fire back in the spirit of anyone daring to jump aboard!

Remarks Brian: “Death by Design is the second song from the new Diamond Head album ‘The Coffin Train’ to be released. This song began life in my home studio in 2015. I had the opening top E string riff and tried to build a song around it. I gave a demo to Ras and he added a new verse riff. We worked on the arrangement and made another demo early 2017 before trying it out in rehearsal. It has a four bar guitar solo that was recorded in a hotel room on Ras’s laptop while on tour, another first for Diamond Head!

Singer Ras adds: “Contrary to the title, Death by Design is not a song about death but about life. It’s about choosing life, your path and on your terms. It’s saying “no” to rotting in the giant hamster wheel and drowning in pre-conceived notions of “the good life” checklists, so that when you’re done and heading down into the fire, you can wear that big smile saying you did it your way and had one hell of a ride.”

On the video production, Ras continues: “We’ve shot the most videos the band has ever shot for an album launch. The music video for Death by Design was a tough one to shoot right. We don’t exactly have Hollywood budgets for the production, but our director on this song, Russell Cherington, has been a massive support in shooting a rather fantastic video. We wanted to create something that resembled a descent into hell and follow the concept from the lyrics. We hope everyone will enjoy the second single and video and that it might inspire them to live life on their terms.”

Formed in 1976 under the riff-rolling leadership of guitarist Brian Tatler, Diamond Head would quickly establish themselves as a vanguard of the exploding New Wave of British Heavy Metal scene. With their genre-defining debut album Lightning to The Nations, Diamond Head became the band who influenced and opened gates for many metal bands.

The Coffin Train, Diamond Head’s eighth studio album, is a glorious testimony to Diamond Heads’ masterful ability to create the flavours necessary for a classic album. The songs were written between tours and recorded in several different places: guitars, bass and vocals at Vigo Studios in Walsall, drums at Circle Studios in Birmingham, produced and mixed at Ras’ Raw Sound Studio in London.

When it comes to the concepts behind The Coffin Train, Tatler left the heart to Ras, who being a thinker and life-conceptualiser, doesn’t lack sources of inspiration. Diamond Head have not only managed to create an album of pure heavy metal intensity, they have created a timeless aural statement which feels destined to see them delivering both The Coffin Train and DH 2.0 to more fans than ever.

Is it really that electric you might ask? Oh yes it certainly is!

"We titled our second album 'Ghastly Waves & Battered Graves' because it's catchy, cold and metal as fuck," Vulture guitarist Stefan Genozider declares succinctly. This is not an overstatement. The follow up to 2017's cult sensation The Guillotine and their debut release for Metal Blade, the new full-length captures the German crew's dispensing scathing thrash at a standard that places them toe-to-toe with the best in their genre. It is also a dramatic step forward in terms of songwriting and execution. "With 'The Guillotine' we really restricted ourselves to reproducing our debut EP. We wanted it to sound the same, both in the actual music and sound-wise, but we knew that this wouldn't work a third time, so we sat down and talked about what was missing in what we had come up with so far. From that discussion, the overall goal for our second full-length was to get more variation in our songs, work out more melodic parts and allow ourselves to slow down a little here and there."

When it came to tracking, Vulture once again joined forces with close friend and producer Marco Brinkmann (Casket, Cross Vault) at Hellforge Studio in Detmold, Germany. "Overall, the album sounds very aggressive and cold, and our producer Marco once again managed to catch exactly what we wanted and mapped out a great mix that fits our music perfectly. There's a lot of room for all those small accents and hints, but it also sounds very direct, in-your-face-alike, if you will," says Genozider. With Brinkmanns' incredibly busy schedule, their only window for recording were ten days in August, which turned out to be during the hottest summer the region had experienced in decades. This obviously made for quite an intense process, but the band was well prepared thanks to the countless hours spent in pre-production and targeted on what they wanted to achieve they managed to finish up a day early. They also tracked a cover of Thin Lizzy's "Killer On The Loose" to cap off the collection. "Finding a fitting cover isn't easy but this track just clicks with Vulture," enthuses Axetinctor. "You have the lyrical theme, the ripping riffs and most importantly it's a great song by one of our favorite bands."

Teramaze founder, guitarist and producer Dean Wells said of the video “Weight of humanity was one of the first songs we wrote for this album and I really believe it captures the true essence of what Teramaze is artistically and lyrically.

The song touches on the pressures of living in our times and what we choose to believe and accept what is true or lies.

It’s one of my favorite songs from the album and Wayne did an amazing job of creating something visually stimulating that blends well with the theme of the song”

“Australian prog has been around for a while mate,” said Wells on the recent explosion of progressive-minded rock bands from Australia, of which Melbourne’s Teramaze are surely at the forefront. “It was kick started with bands like Cog, Karnivool, and now there’s stuff like Voyager and Caligula’s Horse and Plini and things like that.”

“Funnily enough I don’t really feel that we’re really a part of that,” he continues. The thing with Teramaze is we’re a progressive band but we’re closer to progressive metal and not progressive rock. But sometimes it’s not progressive rock at all, it’s more like metal with big pop choruses. I mean I like progressive metal because it gives me the chance to write anything under the banner of Teramaze. But sometimes I like writing pop songs. And it does leak into Teramaze, it always has. A song like ‘Her Halo’ itself for example.”

‘Her Halo’, Teramaze’s 2015 album, and their first for Mascot Records, saw the band take a big step up from previous albums ‘Anhedonia’ (2012) and ‘Esoteric Symbolism’ (2014), with the UK’s Prog Magazine calling the album “Exceptional” and stating it was “one of the finest prog metal releases of recent years.” Four years later and Wells and Teramaze are back with a new album, ‘Are We Soldiers’, another step up for the Australian band. It’s still Teramaze – all huge choruses, crashing guitar chords, intricate time changes and swooping melodies – but it’s a bigger, brighter and even better Teramaze.

There’s change beyond the music for Teramaze with ‘Are We Soldiers’, with original vocalist Brett Rerekura returning to the fold, replacing Nathan Peachey, who’d sung on ‘Her Halo’.

With ‘Are We Soldiers’, Dean Wells and Teramaze have delivered another excellent piece of modern progressive metal. One that will inevitably build upon the progress achieved by ‘Her Halo’. With plans afoot for European and UK live dates for later in the year, Teramaze are a band that are going to be occupying a lot of your time in 2019 and beyond.

Brocarde est née dans un petit village de l'Oxfordshire, au Royaume-Uni. Elle se passionna pour le spectacle et la narration dès son plus jeune âge, alors qu'elle écrivait des poèmes et des pièces de théâtre pour les jouer toute recouverte des perles trouvées dans l'armoire de sa grand-mère.

Brocarde voit la musique de manière totalement différente. Elle n'a pas de genre. Elle utilise l'instrumentation pour capturer l'émotion dans ses mots. Elle aborde différents mondes ; son côté vulnérable et fragile est fasciné par un orchestre à cordes délicatement pincées ; sa vivacité d'esprit sans limite vous invite à vous lever plein d'entrain, et son angoisse et sa frustration se mélangent à merveille aux voies rauques du heavy metal. “Turn To Dust” is the third single from " Walk The Earth " which was released October 20, 2017 on Hell & Back Recordings (Silver Lining Music). It was recorded at famed Abbey Road Studios in London with Grammy® Award-winning producer Dave Cobb (Rival Sons, Shooter Jennings, Jason Isbell, Chris Stapleton). The Craig Hooper-directed clip can now be found on the band’s official YouTube page

“This song idea has been brewing for over ten years”, explains singer Joey Tempest. “When recording our latest album, WALK THE EARTH, in Abbey Road Studios, the inspiration finally kicked in to finish it. Originally an idea and labour of love of our keyboards player Mic Michaeli, the video was meant to touch on emotions and observations related to the Life and Death of your near and dear ones, the circle of life if you will, but it turned out to be much more than that as it follows the dramatic journey of the character taken from the artwork on our album cover. Working with Craig Hooper and his animation team was a real pleasure, and after seeing their work on Deep Purple’s ‘The Surprising’, we knew we were dealing with true visionaries. We’re very proud of the result, especially since it’s our first ever animated video.”


As director Craig Hooper continues, “A video like this is a very difficult thing to get right. The song is layered with emotion and meaning and to capture that in images is tricky to say the least. The band decided the only way to do the song justice was through animation, where images are limited only by your imagination and together we roughed out a treatment. I then took that to Pete Rogers and Helen Pooler at Bait Studio in Cardiff, Wales, who are amongst the best in the world at this kind of thing and we’d already worked with them before for a video for Deep Purple. They brought on board artist Matt Rooke, who immediately ‘got it,' and between them they gave life to these ideas and images. It wasn’t until the final frame was finished that we saw we had produced something special, something that I hope does a good enough job of representing such an amazing and heartfelt song. That’s up to viewers to decide."

PAUL GILBERT News/ Vidéo " Havin' It "

Nouvel album " Behold Electric Guitar " le 17 mai prochain via Mascot Label Group / Music Theories Recordings

On May 17th, Music Theories will release Behold Electric Guitar, Paul Gilbert's newest album with 12 new original songs, all with Paul's most expressive, and inspired guitar playing to date!

The first song of the album entitled Havin’ It premieres today with a new video

Paul comments on Havin’ It: "I finally wrote a song with long guitar solos! It took me decades to stretch beyond my pop song structure habits, and it feels great to be FREE, and just play, and play, and play. The song still has melodies and themes, and those were inspired by the idea that when you have something good... You still want MORE. Havin' it... don't make me stop wantin' it!"

After his recent move to Portland, Oregon, Paul set out to connect with the best and grooviest musicians in the area, and record an album in his brand new hometown. Brian Foxworth (drums) and Asher Fulero (keyboards) were both obvious choices to play Paul's mix of rock, blues, jazz, and pop flavors. When Paul's regular Portland bassist Kelly Lemieux was unavailable (due to his touring with Buckcherry), Paul reached out to New Orleans bass legend, Roland Guerin. Roland came to Portland weeks before the recording dates for intense rehearsing and arranging sessions.

With the band complete, Paul enlisted legendary producer and engineer John Cuniberti. John is well known for his work with Joe Satriani, but Paul was primarily interested in John's expertise with "one mic" recording. Paul explains, "It's so easy to make albums with overdubbing and editing these days, but I really prefer playing live and just getting the music to sound right because the musicians, the songs, and the performances are good." After hearing Paul's band, John recommended a few more mics, but still agreed that the music worked best as live performances with no overdubs. "There is not one overdub on the record. Everything you hear is four guys jamming, listening to each other, and making room for each other. The music almost mixes itself that way! And it's just a great mindset to have. When you know that you won't be fixing or adding parts later... It keeps your mind very active to get things right!"

Exumer launches new single, "Raptor"

On April 5th, legendary multinational thrash metallers Exumer will release their fifth full-length, Hostile Defiance, via Metal Blade Records.

Hostile Defiance is exactly what its title suggests. A 42-minute full on attack, the thrash faction hold nothing back as they unleash hell as only they can, yet with more variety and dynamics than ever before. "We wanted to sonically progress, incorporating more melodic elements in the music as well as more rhythmic variety," states vocalist Mem Von Stein. "We are a lot braver trying to create an up to date and relevant sound that can easily stand alone in today's thrash landscape without sounding trite or a throwback, and we're challenging the listener not to get too comfortable with one specific feel, tempo or pace."

Whitechapel launches video for new single, "When a Demon Defiles a Witch"

On March 29th, Whitechapel will release their 7th full-length, The Valley, via Metal Blade Records. Mixed by David Castillo, mastered by Ted Jensen, and produced once again by Mark Lewis (Cannibal Corpse, The Black Dahlia Murder), The Valley is a reference to the part of Hardin Valley (west of Knoxville, Tennessee) where vocalist Phil Bozeman grew up. Set against this backdrop, he approaches his subject matter unflinchingly, building upon everything that came before, making it clear that he has survived that which he was forced to endure and is not afraid to confront it. "Phil has been upfront in his lyrics in the past about hardships he endured in his life as a child, and I believe with this record we tried to paint a better picture of that," says guitarist Alex Wade, who alongside his bandmates, stands 100% behind everything their vocalist has to say. "I feel our music is Phil's release from his past, being able to get it out and speak about it, and hopefully anyone who hears it that may have gone through similar experiences can find some release in it as well."

Anyone throwing The Valley on for the first time will immediately recognize it as the work of Whitechapel, yet as has been the case with each release, there is also evolution in play. "Sound-wise, it's all over the place," Bozeman states plainly. "There's aggression, and then you're hit with ominous and emotional guitar riffs. It's mean, but then transfers to soft and inviting. It's a whirlwind of emotions throughout."

Tyr launches video for new single, "Sunset Shore"

On March 8th, the Faroe Islands' Tyr will release their eighth full-length, Hel, via Metal Blade Records. Hel is a collection of ruthlessly melodic and irresistibly compelling progressive folk metal that will immediately resonate with any who have followed the band at any point over the two decades of their storied career. Týr vocalist / guitarist Heri Joensen comments: "In early January, immediately after spending our holidays in the Faroes, Gunnar and I traveled to Hungary to our bandmates, Tadeusz and Attila, in Budapest. Finally, it was time to shoot another video, our first since 2014, and we’re very happy to present this one to you!



"The Hungarian film production crew, Mihaszna Film, arranged the trips, starting from Budapest and going first to the Julian alps in Slovenia. In the fields and rivers of the snowy mountains we had some amazing scenery for 'overworld' part of the video. A few days later we traveled on to the caves of Szent-István in northern Hungary, and deep underground we found some dark and gloomy caves to be the perfect backdrop for the underworld part of this video.



"Terji wrote 'Sunset Shore', for our upcoming album, 'Hel' - to be relased on March 8th, and he plays the solo on the album version, but not in this video. We decided it was the perfect opportunity to introduce you all to the amazing talent of Attila Vörös, who recorded his own version of the solo a few days before the video shooting. The lyrics, written by me, are about how the mind can sometimes be a windswept and weatherworn landscape, and how the only thing to do, in spite of hopelessness and despair, is to aim for a better place and to work towards better times.

Known for their prolific nature - dropping their first five full-lengths in the space of just seven years - the six-year gap between Valkyrja (2013) and Hel is by far the longest between any two of their records. During that period the band toured hard, taking the album around the world, including a support run with Children Of Bodom in North America and an appearance on the 70,000 Tons Of Metal cruise. However, other factors played into this extended break between releases. "We approached this one differently because I learned that if I continue doing albums in the way we had up to now, I would die from a heart attack before I'm 50!" says guitarist/vocalist Heri Joensen. "That's one of the reasons we changed our method and took such a long time on this one." That this tactic has been beneficial is borne out in the finished product, which is perhaps more immersive than those that came before. "Musically it leans a bit towards our album, 'Ragnarok' (2005)," states Thomsen. "It's a bit more epic and also much better worked through than any of our previous albums." It also marks the recording debut of drummer Tadeusz Rieckmann, who has manned the drum throne for Tyr's live shows since 2016.

The new SABATON History Channel has launched with an episode about one of the band’s best-loved songs – the Polish anthem '40:1'.

SABATON History is a unique collaboration between the band themselves and multimedia historians Indy Neidell and Timeghost, capturing the power of social media to tell the stories behind SABATON’s songs.

Music and history fans have been talking about the channel ever since it was first trailed on 8 January, and more than 30,000 advance subscribers were ready and waiting for the first episode.

Bass player Pär Sundström, who co-presents the episode, explained why '40:1' was chosen first: “Not only is this one of our most popular songs, the chorus actually starts with the line ‘baptised in fire’. Nobody in the world of metal has ever done a project like this before, so we knew this was the right choice for our own baptism of fire!
A lot of people tell us this was the song that got them listening to Sabaton, and it’s been a regular part of our live show for over 10 years, so we’re sure subscribers will enjoy the story behind it.
Filming has been amazing and the episodes will be fun to watch, but the history team also take their research very seriously and we think even we will learn something from SABATON History.”

A new episode will air at 3.30pm CET every Thursday, telling the true-life stories behind every SABATON song – including those from the highly-anticipated new album – meaning the channel is committed to run for the next year and beyond.

Each story is researched by historians, who will use exclusive footage from the PA archives, original graphics, and of course SABATON music, to bring it to life in a fast-paced 15-minute episode.

Every week they will be joined in the specially-designed studio by a member of SABATON, who will share the band’s own stories about the song, including insights into the writing process and tales from the recording studio.

Channel presenter and writer Indy Neidell, the face of ambitious Youtube history projects The Great War, Between Two Wars, and World War II, said:

The follow-up to 2016’s ‘By Default’, the new album was produced by Richard X, who also co-wrote four of the tracks. “An anti war cry for our turbulent times,” say Band Of Skulls of the new single. “All the energy we spend fighting amongst ourselves can be used to do something positive, something real. So don’t forget to go out, to fall in love and to feel alive.”

Band Of Skulls will support the album release with a series of special shows throughout release week, kicking off with a hometown show at Southampton Central Hall on April 11 and including Islington Assembly Hall in London on April 16

‘Love Is All You Love’ was recorded in London’s Miloco Studios, The Smoakstack studio in Nashville, and in the Southampton studio of Band Of Skulls founder members’ Russell Marsden (guitar, vocals) and Emma Richardson (bass, vocals). Following the amicable departure of drummer Matt Hayward, Russell and Emma started the writing process for the record in 2017 and quickly accumulated a host of new songs. It was a free and experimental process mixing electronic and live instruments, working quickly, getting ideas down, then moving on.

Work then switched to The Toyshop studio at Miloco to collaborate with Richard X, known for his innovative production with artists from Pet Shop Boys to Goldfrapp to Sugababes, whose ‘Freak Like Me’ was one of the standout singles of the 2000s. Richard X encouraged Band Of Skulls new spirit of experimentation, pushing the combination of live and electronic as mixing the two was creating interesting dynamics. Once the writing was complete the band decamped to Nashville to record the live element of the record with Eagles Of Death Metal’s Julian Dorio on drums.

All these elements added a heavy punch and power to ‘Love Is All You Love’, especially on the unrelenting ‘Carnivorous’ and short sharp shock of ‘That’s My Trouble’. ‘Cool Your Battles is more widescreen, while ‘We’re Alive’ has a heavy dance pulse with a touch of melancholy. The song ‘Love Is All You Love’ focuses on the groove and keeps the feel of when they tracked it live in Nashville. This song in particular seems to encapsulate the sentiment of the whole record.

“This record is tough and tender with a rebellious spirit,” say Emma and Russell. “It is a positive record. It looks to what is possible and how a little love and human kindness can help bring about positive change.

We drew on personal experiences, changes in our situation, and couldn’t help but be affected by what has been going on in the world politically, culturally and environmentally. Attempting to overcome that sometimes powerless feeling by creating and connecting with people and making something new.”

Since 2009, Band Of Skulls have released four acclaimed studio albums and have built a reputation as a phenomenal live act, both at home and in the US, where they have performed on the Late Show With David Letterman, Late Night with Seth Meyers, and Last Call with Carson Daly. They have toured with luminaries like Muse, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Queens Of The Stone Age and Black Keys among others, as well as touring the globe as a headline act.

Here for love est le premier clip issu de The darkest of human desires - Act II. Réalisé par Vdiva de VD Pictures ( Lord of the lost, Powerwolf, Blutengel, Mono inc...) près de Zurich, le clip met en scene Mr Strangler et son équipe, torturant un homme destiné a mourir des mains de Strangler.

Dans ce morceau, avant de lui donner la mort, Mr Strangler explique à sa victime que tout cela n a rien de personnel, que pour lui, le meurtre est un passe temps comme un autre, une passion. Nous devons tous mourir. C'est ce que les humains font de mieux : mourir. Il faut accepter l'inéluctable, cette mise à mort n'a rien de personnel, aujourd'hui c'est cet homme, demain se sera peut être Strangler...


Plusieurs morceaux sont ponctués de samples de Serial Killers. Durant Here for love, c'est Jeffrey Dahmer qui se confie sur ses motivations de tueurs.


Musicalement, Here for love est un morceau dans la pure lignée Industrial Rock / Gothic metal mid tempo.
